We spent the day in Guernsey on a half day tour followed by our own explorations (watch the video highlights from our day in Guernsey here). I’ve listed the top five attractions we saw in Guernsey below along with some tips from our experiences.
1. St Peter Port: Docks
We arrived at St. Peter Port to take a morning tour of Guernsey. For any photographers or boat enthusiasts, it was nice to look at the boats, enjoy the views, and take photos of the port and the town above. The port is literally across the street from the town of St. Peter.
Tip: There is free Wi-Fi at the port and plenty of spots to have a seat to catch up on emails, and post some lovely photos of the port.
2. The Little Chapel
Our half-day tour of Guernsey began at St. Peter Port and brought us to The Little Chapel. Our tour guide gave us great history about the attraction on our way and focused on how this chapel was built. It was interesting to see all the shells, rocks and porcelain pieces that were used in the building of this attraction. It is indeed very tiny, and gets rather busy when there is a cruise ship in port.

3. Pleinmont Observation Tower & Dolman Battery
We stopped at the observation area and battery to enjoy the picturesque views and to see a piece of Guernsey history. Some tunnels and weapons (from when Guernsey was German-occupied during the war) have been maintained for both locals and visitors to see.

4. Peter Port: Guernsey Pearl Visitor’s Centre & Café
We stopped at the Guernsey Pearl Visitor’s Centre complete with a licensed café and souvenir shop. Make sure you try the Guernsey Gache with some Guernsey butter – a great snack and local specialty. The menu was quite extensive, the souvenir shop had some interesting trinkets and jewelry and it was just across the street from the Fort Grey Shipwreck Museum. We walked over to Fort Grey, took photos and explored outside, but didn’t have time to go in. Admission was 4GBP per adult to get in and it was open from 10am to 4:30 pm.

5. Wander through the town St. Peter Port
The town of St. Peter Port has many shops and restaurants to explore. The town is on a hill, so much of the walking is uphill or via stairs. There was bunting, flowers and cobblestone walkways that added to the charm of the town. We found many of the stores to be rather pricey, but that was to be expected considering it is the main town and caters to the masses that come in from the cruise ships. It was a lovely little town, great for picture taking or to stop for tea and Guernsey Gache.
Tip: Stick to the main roads as they are easier to navigate than some of the very steep alleys.
Overall, we had a great time in Guernsey and wish we could have stayed longer. The views of the coast are amazing!
