In February, 2020 my husband and I stayed at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort for a week of all-inclusive relaxation. The resort was updated after Hurricane Irma destroyed it in 2017, and they have done a fantastic job renovating. Though, we did notice some of the resort wasn’t quite finished, and construction was still taking place.

Our room at the resort was a Premier Ocean View Room, with views of the pool and Maho Beach. It was clean, new and comfortable. I found there was a lot of wasted space because it had an adjoining door. Here’s a tour of our room and the amenities it included.

Room Amenities (from the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort Website)

The Sonesta website states that all guest rooms and suites feature the items below. I’ve commented beside each to provide my own details and experience:

  • Private balcony with outdoor furniture (the balconies have no privacy as they are all glass and there are no dividers between them)
  • Flat screen TV with US & international satellite channels (channels were limited but came in fine)
  • Direct dial-phone with voicemail, mobile device USB charging station, wireless connect music player
  • Energy efficient in-room climate control
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Mini-fridge with water and sodas; Premier rooms and suites have international brand liquor and beer. (our mini-fridge had 2 cans of light beer provided daily)
  • Coffee maker with coffee and tea (we didn’t use this, the cafe in the main lobby had good coffee)
  • In-room safe (standard-sized safe that would fit approx 13″ laptop and small valuables)
  • Hair dryer and bath amenities (hair dryer was powerful, husband liked the bath amenities)
  • One king or two double beds, and sitting area with coffee table and chairs (we didn’t have a sitting ares with a couch and coffee table)
  • Free Wi-Fi in common areas and guest rooms (we had wi-fi through the entire resort)
  • Electronic room key (this was your resort bracelet – very convenient!)
  • Smart glass bathrooms with daylight and switchable tint for privacy (we never turned off the tint and kept it on “private” mode the entire week)

Sonesta’s website states “maximum occupancy in all guest rooms and Deluxe suites is 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Maximum occupancy in the Loft suite is 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.”

You can see in my video that our room could only accommodate 2 guests. This doesn’t apply to every room as the website mentioned unless they provide roll-away beds.

Maho Beach Resort Room Tour Summary

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my Premier Ocean View Room at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. I definitely enjoyed my stay and the only complaint was the shower leaking on the bathroom floor. I’ve been dreaming of that comfortable king-sized bed and those amazing island views from our balcony.

I absolutely love the view from your balcony. Did they ever fix the leaking in your bathroom? Did the construction bother you while you stayed there?

I loved the view too. Nope the leaking continued the whole week. We actually didn’t really notice the construction, so that’s a plus!

It’s sad the hurricane damage was severe but it looks like they recovered with amazing renovations, plus the views look amazing! How was the food?
